Every site that offers online dating advice tells you to honestly answer all the questions on the eHarmony questionnaire. And for the most part they are correct. This is especially true when answering questions about your core beliefs.

However, there are 157 questions about your attributes and this is where you want to pay attention. When answering these questions you will want your answers to reflect what you desire in your match. The computer knows that opposites attract but that opposites do not make good mates. You need to encourage the computer to recognize that your traits will be similar to the traits you desire in a partner.

For instance, when I go out on a date I HATE making a decision about where to go (I hate choosing a restaurant!) Yet when I answer honestly questions about decision making I will get matched with similar people who also hate making decisions. How do we fix this? Answer these “trait” questions with answers as if you are the person with the “traits” you desire.

In this example I would answer decision making questions as if I were a strong decision maker (a trait I desire in a partner) and in doing so we help the process by taking a weakness of mine and matching it to a strength of a potential match.
